library
John Dickerson shared a post on Instagram: "It's #NationalLibraryWeek. This is a picture of the library at Trinty college, which will stand in for all the lovely libraries that have driven me all my life. Driven me to ideas, and driven me to put something on those shelves. Librarians are guardians of two of my favorite things: order and knowledge. They keep things in place, follow the system and sequence the volumes because some day we will need that order to rescue us, release us, inspire us or make the passing of the day sweet. My favorite moment in a library was in the stacks at the University of Virginia. I had to write a history paper. I wanted my subject to be H. L. Mencken. All the books had been checked out though. The deadline was near. So I looked down the spines for others. I discovered James Thurber. I learned about him and wrote about his work. That made all the difference.".
