Last week I talked to Bob Woodward for “Sunday Morning” about conversations he had with President Trump during key points of his time in office. Woodward recorded Trump’s views of threats from Kim Jong Un, the COVID pandemic, and the presidency itself and then took the mic to offer his own grave conclusions on the man at the center of American politics in his new audiobook: “The Trump Tapes.”
I asked Woodward about his views on what Trump means for American democracy and about his reporting regrets, or the places he wished he would have taken the president when he had him at the other end of the line. You can watch our story and buy the book to hear one of our best reporters try to understand a president he says was “drowning in himself.”
